I was nervous and excited to hold a stand at the (long overdue) Food and Hospitality Queensland 2022 expo, at the Brisbane Convention Centre last month. It was a surreal moment when I realised we were surrounded by massive local and national brands such as Unox, JL Lennard, Bidfood, The Commercial Kitchen Company, Comcater and so many more.
I was delighted to be located directly opposite the fabulous team from MilkLAB who kept the crowds pumped full of caffeine, served from their curious “edible cups”! On the other corner, we had the Café School which held a variety of sessions throughout the day that provided some great information and education to the audience.
It was great to see so many familiar faces who dropped by to say hello and offer their support and encouragement. I also learned that social media does actually work, as several people stopped to introduce themselves and mentioned they had seen me/us on Facebook and Linked In.
Although we provide a range of products and services to help with reducing food waste and improving food safety, our focus for the expo was the “Intelliguard” digital food safety platform. We had a lot of interest from businesses both big and small and are madly working our way through the inquiries that were registered over the weekend.
Many of our visitors were registered through our giveaway competition where we offered an Intelliguard Starter Park. The lucky winner of this system was Nadene from Nutmeg and Pepper – a boutique catering service based in south Brisbane. Nadene was absolutely ecstatic when I called her to let her know she had won and the system was installed for her the following week. She said this will totally relieve the stress and anxiety she feels getting her catering van fully stocked the night before a big event and then spending the night worrying whether the fridges shut down overnight.
We have already had some quick action takers that have ordered and/or had systems installed, so it is looking like being a very successful event for us.
